Puerto Princesa DIY Honda Bay Tour

For budget travelers like me, here’s some tip on how you can save a lot of money in your Puerto Princesa Honda Bay tour:
I was with my 2 kids and friends for our 3 days and 2nites vacation in Puerto Princesa. I was really on a tight budget so we decided not to avail the tour offered by the travel agencies. It usually cost PHP 1,200 per person with buffet lunch and van transfer; but with DIY tour, we really saved a lot of money. We hired a tricycle which costs Php500 (round-trip transfer to hotel and Honda bay wharf). We just paid Php 1,300 for the boat which will get us to Luli, Starfish and Cowrie Island. Here’s the price list of the boat rental as well as the entrance fee of the islands:

On arrival at the wharf; We first registered our names and paid for our boat rental and environmental fees. We also paid for Cowrie Island’s entrance fee and buffet lunch since we decided to have our lunch there. The lunch buffet costs Php 175.00 and the entrance fee costs Php 75.00.
Our first stop is Luli Island. Luli means lulubog (sink), lilitaw (rise). The only island in Honda bay which sinks and rises with the tide. My kids fell in love with the island most especially when they swam with the fish. I was glad that my friend, Carol had a bread. My kids used it for fish feeding.

Our next stop is Starfish Island. My kids find Luli island much better than this Island. We just stayed 30mins and decided to  go to Cowrie Island.

Our final stop is Cowrie Island. We love this as much as Luli island. We love its white, fine sand, the scenery and everything. It is really beautiful. We had our lunch here and stayed until 2:30 in the afternoon.

The good thing about the DIY Honda Bay tour is you don’t have to join another group for this tour. You are the one, who will decide which islands will be your destination and for how long will you stay on each island. Most of all, it is much cheaper than what the travel agencies offer especially if you are in a big group.
